What’s Included in an EHI Export
Our Electronic Health Information (EHI) Export is provided to meet ONC §170.315(b)(10) requirements and allows practices to obtain an electronic copy of the EHI maintained in the system at the time of the export request.
The export includes patient-specific electronic health information that is maintained as part of the patient record and used for care, coordination, or billing.
Included
The EHI Export includes patient-identifiable data that is explicitly associated with a patient record in OfficeEMR, such as:
Patient demographics and identifiers
Encounters, diagnoses, notes, vitals, allergies, immunizations, procedures
Orders and results
Billing-related information
Patient-related communications when they are attached to a patient chart
Other data elements maintained by the system as part of the patient’s record
Data is included based on how it is stored and linked within the system, using existing chart associations and workflows.
Not Included
The EHI Export does not include data that is not maintained as part of a patient’s record, including:
Internal office communications or administrative messages that are not tied to a patient
General practice operations content (e.g., staffing discussions, meeting notes, office logistics, etc.)
System or operational data that is not patient-specific
Data that would require interpretation, inference, or reclassification to determine patient relevance as ONC does not require this or consider such data EHI
Practice Operations Clarification
“Practice operations” does not mean all internal data or communications within the system.
For EHI Export purposes, only patient-specific information maintained in the designated patient record is included, even when that information supports clinical or billing operations.
Export Format
EHI Exports are provided in an electronic, computable format as defined in OfficeEMR’s published EHI export specifications.
Custom Data Exports
Practices that need data beyond the standard EHI Export, or in a specific format or structure, may request a custom data export.
Custom exports are:
Scoped based on client requirements
Provided as a separate, billable service
Quoted and contracted prior to execution
